The Event
The role of rheumatic and vascular inflammation in the impairment of lower limb biomechanics
Rheumatic and vascular diseases can compromise the biomechanics of the lower limb. From a classification point of view, this is particularly evident in the case of inflammatory conditions, as these alter tissue structures earlier and more rapidly. Therefore, compromising their functional stability more significantly. The resulting disability significantly reduces the quality of life of patients and management costs become particularly high for the National Health System. This Scientific Seminar, focusing on the biomechanical impairment of the lower limb in rheumatic and vascular diseases with inflammatory pathogenesis, starts with an updated physiopathological framework of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Sclerosis, Vasculitis, Behcet's Syndrome, as well as the most common varicose ulcer. Subsequently, it addresses the salient aspects of biomechanical damage in different situations and highlights first the preventive measures, then the rehabilitative and therapeutic ones. From this day of discussion, which involves several Italian and Foreign Specialists, a unique opportunity for in-depth study emerges as it is also aimed at the preclinical phases, before the functional damage occurs and/or "consolidates".
